About Oreck Corporation Upon return from the army after World War II, David Oreck discovered his innate talent as a salesman selling Whirlpool appliances and more while working at RCA Corporation. In 1963, he left RCA to pursue his solo endeavor with Oreck Corporation. Although Whirlpool hadn't been able to make its upright vacuum a successful seller, Oreck redesigned it and with the rights from Whirlpool, marketed it throughout the United States. Soon thereafter, Oreck was asked to take over the RCA distributor in New Orleans and in two years, turned it into a flourishing company. The Oreck Commercial division was established in 1997 as a specialty group of Oreck Corporation, with a client list including Marriott Hotels, Dillard's Department Stores, Godiva Chocolatier, and more.
